Well, just in my kitchen at least. Saturday and Sunday we removed all of the cabinets with the help of Kevin, Corey, Janice, & Jim.
Now, what remodel job would be complete without a few surprises?
Exhibit A:
The laminate back splash had been glued directly onto the sheet rock. Yeah...I've got some major repair work to do on the walls before I can paint.
Tile was laid directly onto the existing linoleum floor. No backer board beneath. Now, probably the lamest part of this whole situation (besides having to also scrape up linoleum) is that the wood floor on either side of the kitchen entrances will now be about a 1/4 inch lower than the tile when we finish. Why? Because the wood floor was laid directly onto the subfloor as well. Grumble.
Today's goals: chisel out the floor and repair the sheet rock.
wow... i think the people who did your laminate were the same ones who did our wall paper. exact same method, "eh, just slap it up, don't bother prepping the wall or anything"
